The sole deity in any monotheistic religion, such as the Christian God, is never referred to as *Thần (compare Chinese , Japanese (Kami)), but as Chúa (literally the Lord). The capitalized Thần is used in certain Protestant translations of the Bible in Genesis 1.2 as a translation of English Spirit.
