English[edit]

Etymology[edit]

save +‎ point

Noun[edit]

savepoint (plural savepoints)

  1. (video games) A designated spot where the player can save their progress.
I died just before I reached the savepoint and had to repeat everything from my previous save.
  2. (databases) A point during a transaction at which changes are committed, and to which the user can roll back if necessary.
  3. (film) A celebrity-owned, cinematic-quality digital replica created from source data provided directly by the actor using a custom high-resolution scanner. Unlike deepfakes, which rely on unauthorized footage, Savepoints are used for professional media purposes, allowing celebrities to appear in films, commercials, and other projects without being physically present.
The production company used a Savepoint of the famous actor to complete the scenes seamlessly, despite the actor's busy schedule.
