Etymology

From Proto-Finnic *kuuci toicta kümmentä. Equivalent to kuus (six) +‎ teist (of second). Shortened from kuusteistkümmend ("six of the second decade"), which is still evident in declension. Cognate with Finnish kuusitoista.
