Etymology

Possibly kišti (to poke, to shove) +‎ -enė. However, others suggest that it may instead have been borrowed from Slavic; compare Belarusian кі́шка (kíška), Polish kiszka (intestine, bowel), ultimately from Proto-Slavic *kyšьka.
