kaplēt (transitive or intransitive, 2nd conjugation, present kaplēju, kaplē, kaplē, past kaplēju)
- to hoe (to work (on earth) with a hoe)
- kaplēt zemi, augsni, dobes ― to hoe the earth, the soil, (plant) beds
- kaplēt kartupeļu lauku ― to hoe a potato field
- zēni kaplēja vagu starpas, ka smiltis vien pa gaisu griezās ― the boys hoed between the furrows, so that sand turned in the air
- to weed with a hoe
- kaplēt nezāles ― to weed (lit. to hoe weeds)
- kaplēt bietes, kartupeļus ― to weed the beets, the potatoes
