Etymology[edit]
Literally, “they're sour, said the fox about the rowanberries”. Ultimately of the same origin as with English sour grapes (see it for more); referring to rowanberries instead of grapes is calqued from Swedish (compare Swedish surt sa räven om rönnbären).
