Etymology

A -ull lengthening of grumb, from Proto-Albanian *grumba, from Proto-Indo-European *gru(m)bʰ, derivative of Proto-Indo-European *grewb- (to crumple, bend, crawl). Identical with Latvian grumbulains (uneven, rough), and close to Old Church Slavonic grǫbь (grǫbĭ, ignorant, uneducated), Old Norse kryppa (hump).
