Etymology

[edit]

Possibly from bot or Latin botum + suffix -, possibly influenced by bucă, or through a confusion of Latin basium and bucca[1] (compare bosumflat). Other theories suggest a substratum origin; it is possibly related to Albanian buzë, and is possibly derived or borrowed from it. Compare also Aromanian budzã, Bulgarian буза (buza), Spanish bozo and Macedonian буза (buza).
