From Proto-Igboid *ɗɛ́-ɣṍṍ. Cognate with Ogbah áꜜŋʷʊ́, Ezaa ɛ́ŋʷʊ́, Izi ɛ́ŋʷʊ́, Ukwuani-Aboh-Ndoni ɛ́ŋʷʊ̌, Ika ɛ́ꜜŋʊ́.[1] Possibly related to Proto-Bantu *njíkɪ̀, Yoruba oyin.
