From Ancient Greek ἀντιπάθεια (antipátheia), noun of state from ἀντιπαθής (antipathḗs, “opposed in feeling”), from ἀντί (antí, “against”) + root of πάθος (páthos, “feeling”). By surface analysis, anti- + -patía.
