The Dutch translation doesn't look right to me.

"Contact" as a web form field

[edit]

I am registering at a website and faced with 4 fields: Name, Contact, Email, Country. What is the meaning of contact in this context ? Thanks! Nicolas1981 12:35, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

It often means a delegated person whom you offer as an alternative "contact" person. In some business contexts it might be an assistant or a supervisor. It might be a spouse, "significant other, or cohabitant. It might be next of kin. Exactly whose name should be inserted seems to me to be context-dependent. You would have to think of why and how the requester would use the information. I'm not sure that it would make a good dictionary entry. DCDuring Holiday Greetings! 15:43, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
