Like Yiddish בלינצע (blintse) (whence English blintz), from Upper Sorbian blinc, blins, plinc, plins (“thin pancake”), dissimilated from mlinc, from Proto-Slavic *mlinъ + *-ьcь, a suffix which this word often bears.
