Norwegian Gjøahavn. From Gjøa+havn (harbour). From Gjøa, a sailing sloop used by Roald Amundsen. From Old Norse Gyða, a contraction of Guðfríðr, from guð (god)+fríðr (beautiful). Coined by Roald Amundsen's expedition.
