Usage notes

• The plural Balkone is always pronounced /balˈkoːnə/. Accordingly, only this plural is used by speakers who say /balˈkoːn/ in the singular. Other speakers sometimes switch to the same pronunciation in the plural. Otherwise they use the plural Balkons (pronounced like the respective singular form + /s/).
