  1. (verb-forming suffix) A frequentative suffix added to a monosyllabic verb to form a new verb to express the frequent repetition of an action.

  • (verb-forming suffix) Variants:
    -dos is added to back-vowel verbs
    vág (to cut) + ‎-dos → ‎vagdos (to cut up, chop)
    -des is added to unrounded front-vowel verbs
    ver (to beat) + ‎-des → ‎verdes (to flutter)
    -dös is added to rounded front-vowel verbs
    lök (to push once) + ‎-dös → ‎lökdös (to jostle, to push aside repetitively)
