  1. even, at least; marks that something is acceptable or that one must make do with it, but that it is not totally desirable.
    대만 가니까 부산이라도 야지.
    Daeman-eul mot ganikka Busan-irado ga-yaji.
    Since we can't go to Taiwan, we should at least go to Busan.

  2. even; used for emphasis after a limited time or quantity.

    Even if it's just one night, stay with me.
  3. Used in conditionals to add greater doubt, attaching either to an adverb expressing doubt or to the thing whose existence is being supposed.
    전쟁이라도 나면 어디 피난 가지?
    Jeonjaeng-irado namyeon eodi-ro pinan gaji?
    If a war breaks out, where should we escape to?
    혹시라도 잘못한 있어?

  4. Used for emphasis in constructions involving (-eun deut, as if) or 처럼 (-eun geot-cheoreom, as if).
    귀신이라도 처럼 소스라쳤다.
    Gwisin-irado bon geot-cheoreom soseuracheotda.
    She shuddered in fright, as if she had seen a ghost.
  5. Used other than figuratively or idiomatically: see 이다 (-ida),‎ 라도 (-rado).
    살인마라도 따라 처벌되어야 한다.
    Sarinma-rado beob-e ttara cheobeol-doeeoya handa.
    Even a mass murderer should be punished according to the law.
    (literally, “Even if he is a mass murderer, he should be punished according to the law.”)
