  • The vast majority of adjectives ending in -ичный (-ičnyj) are based off of foreign roots, and are often parallel to foreign terms ending in English -ic or equivalents in other languages (e.g. French -ique, German -ik), to which -ный (-nyj) has been added. See for example методи́чный (metodíčnyj, methodical), from мето́дика (metódika, method, methodology).
