From Aramaic חוֹחַא (ḥōḥā, thornbush); compare Classical Syriac ܚܚܐ (ḥaḥḥā, plum), Arabic خَوْخ (ḵawḵ, peach) and Hebrew חוֹחַ (khóakh, golden thistle).
