Etymology

The original spelling is աղաւրի (aławri), from Proto-Indo-European *h₂lh₁-tr-i(H)-eh₂-, from *h₂elh₁- (to grind), whence աղամ (ałam); cognate with Ancient Greek ἀλετρίς (aletrís).[1][2][3]
