Etymology[edit]
Learnedly, from Koine Greek δίδακτρα (dídaktra) (neuter plural: "a teacher's fee").[1] By surface analysis, διδάσκω (didásko, “to teach”) + -τρo (-tro, “neuter singular suffix”), here in plural.
