Etymology[edit]
From Ottoman Turkish وحشی (vahşi, “wild, savage”), from Arabic وَحْشِيّ (waḥšiyy), adjectival form of وَحْش (waḥš, “wild animal, monster”). Compare Persian وحشی (vahši).
