  1. (oncology, pharmacology) A process for producing a class of chemotherapy drugs which can be administered in a nontoxic form and, subsequent to a time delay, allows for a differential concentration in the target cancer or invasive tissues or cells, minimizing the toxicity to healthy cells, thereby reducing the adverse side effects of chemotherapy.
