Etymology[edit]
So called because they are "sandwiched" between the preceding and succeeding generations.

- A generation of people whose lifestyle is governed by the fact that they must simultaneously care for the needs of their children and their own elderly parents; often with reference to the generation comprising those who are the children of baby boomers (Generation X and/or Generation Y).
