Etymology[edit]
From a hypothetical form *frumushat, past participle of a verb *frumusha, ultimately from a derivative of Latin formosus. Compare Daco-Romanian înfrumușa (“make beautiful, beautify”), from frumos, frumusețe, and regional mușat (“beautiful, handsome”).
