Etymology

[edit]

From Middle Dutch hoerensone, first attested as a gloss for manzer, i.e. mamzer.[1] Equivalent to hoer (whore, hooker) +‎ -en- (interfix) +‎ zoon (son). Compare English whoreson, German Hurensohn and the rare West Frisian huorresoan, which is perhaps calqued from the Dutch.
