Guguștiuc

Etymology

[edit]

Unknown. Probably from or akin to Bulgarian гугутка (gugutka) and Serbo-Croatian gugutka.

Another theory suggests a connection to the onomatopoeic root gâng, which imitates the sounds made by certain birds and insects. Probably related to gu-gu.[1]
