Inherited from Ottoman Turkish آیاق اوستی (ayaḳ üstü),[1][2] from آیاق (ayaḳ) and اوست (üst),[3][4] equivalent to ayak (foot) +‎ üst (top, upper) +‎ (possessive suffix).
