Etymology[edit]
A calque of Thai พระเจ้า (prá-jâao) or Lao Lao ພະເຈົ້າ (pha chao); vaj ("king", "royal") from Mandarin 王 + tswv from ("Mandarin 主 master, owner, chief"), together literally means "King Lord".
