Capitalisation[edit]

The skating manoeuvre should be moved to "Axel"; needs to be capitalised as it refers to a person's name. Same has happened on the English Wikipedia. Schwede66 (talk) 19:37, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Schwede66 You're assuming that language always has to make sense. If enough people use it in lowercase, then we, as a descriptive dictionary, have to have an entry for it in lowercase. Words originating in proper nouns tend to lose their capitalization as they become separate in the minds of speakers from the original referent. See, for instance, boycott, silhouette and quisling. Please note that I have nothing against Wikipedia's decision: in this case the needs of an encyclopedia and of a descriptive dictionary are different. Thanks for the swift response. No trouble with leaving it the way it is then. Schwede66 (talk) 06:02, 13 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Swedish audio clip[edit]

It sounds like the person who recorded the Swedish audio is saying "En axel", which could be confusing for someone who just wants to know how "axel" is pronounced.67.83.99.134 20:27, 13 June 2022 (UTC)corphoReply
