Definition is not quite right[edit]

I think the definition should be changed (addition in CAPS):

A notional political party supported by people who ignore or downplay its cruel, unjust, or extreme policies and rhetoric, and are then shocked or displeased when these policies and rhetoric have adverse PERSONAL consequences.

The essence of the meme is that the observer didn't think an adverse event would be personally suffered. For example, "I want the government to deport illegal immigrants; I just didn't think the government would deport my husband." 72.81.145.251 13:48, 25 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I agree, and I changed it. It should be obvious that the term applies to people who are very much aware of the harmful effects of the policies, but they believe the harm will only come to other people. There's no ambiguity in "Leopards Eating People's Faces Party" – someone's faces are going to get eaten, and its supporters are all in favor of that; they just don't expect it will be their faces. 108.34.149.124 21:46, 10 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

I've cited the original tweet. Is its text still needed in the Etymology section? Mcljlm (talk) 11:48, 9 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Equinox: I did not use |def=1 because the seems to be optional: see the 2018 July 5, 2020 January 4, and 2022 July 13 quotations at Citations:Leopards Eating People's Faces Party and the 2021 January 7 quotation at Citations:Leopards Eating Faces Party. J3133 (talk) 12:07, 12 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

@J3133: Maybe talk to the template maker about a "def=optional" parameter, so this can be standardised in future. Equinox 12:13, 12 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Done Fixed by using the "~" notation. Equinox 00:33, 13 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
