Etymology

There are historically four main forms across different languages:

  1. *külüm (smile) +‎ *-si- and its reflexive form *külüm (smile) +‎ *-sin-.
  2. *kül- (to laugh) +‎ *-si- +‎ *-r-
  3. *külüm (smile) +‎ *-si- +‎ *-r +‎ *-e-.
