Etymology

Attested as Noordkraaijert in 1913. Compound of Lewe (a personal name) and dorp (village, settlement). Named after squire Unico Evert Lewe van Neijenstein (1863-1935), mayor of 's-Heer Arendskerke between 1892 and 1933.
