Old Irish n-stem nouns.

These nouns are masculine, feminine or neuter, typically with the following endings:

• in the nominative singular: when masculine or feminine, either (a) the bare stem without final n, or (b) -u or -e following the stem without final n, along with aspiration/gemination of the following word; when neuter, the bare stem (usually ending in -(m)m) without final n, with nasalization of the following word;
• in the genitive singular: when masculine or feminine, the bare stem with unpalatalized lenited final n or unpalatalized unlenited final nn; when neuter, -e following the stem without final n, along with aspiration/gemination of the following word;
• in the nominative plural: when masculine or feminine, the bare stem with palatalized lenited final n or palatalized unlenited final nn; when neuter, the bare stem with unpalatalized unlenited final nn (or rarely unpalatalized lenited final n), along with lenition of the following word.

The stem classes are named from the perspective of Proto-Celtic and may not still be visible in Old Irish inflections.
