When is this going to be actually incorporated into something? Some people insisted on deleting this off of Wikipedia for reasons which they couldn't explain very clearly, and now it's been in some kind of peculiar limbo for well over a year. If people were trying to make information less usefully available, then they've certainly succeeded... AnonMoos 18:21, 24 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

QDŠ

[edit]

Is Akkadian qašdu (meaning 'holy') the same as Western Semitic QDŠ, just with metathesis of the last two roots? --Aquatiki (talk) 15:18, 26 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yes. There are numerous forms and related words with both QDŠ and QŠD consonant-orders in the dictionaries. I don't know enough to distinguish Western Semitic borrowings (there are quite a few in Akkadian) from inherited vocabulary, so I don't feel comfortable changing anything. You might ask about this at the Etymology Scriptorum. Chuck Entz (talk) 20:58, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
