Sino-Korean word from 大槪, from 大 (“large”) + 槪 (“largely”).

- Phonetic hangul: [대(ː)개/데(ː)게]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
