From the root meaning 'to walk', related to Hebrew שִׁשֵּׁא, Arabic دَأْدَأَ (daʔdaʔa), Hebrew הִדַּדָּה. Compare Arabic مَاشِيَةٌ (māšiyatun, cattle), from the root م ش ي (m š y, to walk). See አንሶሰወ (ʾänsosäwä, to walk).
