Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Indo-Aryan *Hrā́ṣṭi, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hrā́šti, from Proto-Indo-European *h₃rḗǵti, from Proto-Indo-European *h₃réǵeti (“to straighten; right”). Cognate with Latin regō (“to rule; to direct; to steer; to manage”).
