Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Old Marathi भिंती (bhiṃtī), भीत (bhīta), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀪𑀺𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀺 (bhitti), from Sanskrit भित्ति (bhitti). Cognate to Rajasthani भींत (bhī̃t) and Thai ภิตติ (pít-dtì). Related to Old Marathi भितागें (bhitāgeṃ).
