From Old Irish Ádam, from Latin Ādām, Ādāmus, from Ancient Greek Ἀδάμ, Ἄδαμος (Adám, Ádamos), from Biblical Hebrew אָדָם (ʾāḏām, “person, human”), from אֲדָמָה (ʾăḏāmâ, “earth, soil”).
