| Description |
English: Artemis, bronze sheet, about 25 cm háight, 7th century BC, from the Sanctuary in Brauron. Archaeological Museum of Brauron (Vraone), eastern Attica. (Before the "normal"statues were wooden sculptures often flat and with just a hint of the shapes ("xoanon"). This is kompromis. (Until the end of the 7th century BC, are some marble sculptures quite flat, especially "Nikandra from Naxos" dedicated to Artemis at Delos, now in the National archaeological Museum in Athens, Cat. No. 1.)
Čeština: Artemis z bronzového plechu, 7. století před n. l., asi 25 cm vysoká, ze svatyně v Braurónu. Archeologické muzeum v Braurónu (Vraone), východní Attika. (Před "normálními" sochami byly dřevěné, často ploché a jen s náznakem tvarů postavy ("xoanon"). Tohle je mezipodoba, kdy čelo xoana je z bronzového plechu. (Ještě do konce 7. st. před n. l., jsou i některé mramorové sochy dost ploché, zvlášť třeba "Níkandra z Naxu" věnovaná ostatně Artemidě na Délos, kterou mají v Národním archeologickém muzeu v Athénách, Cat. No. 1.) |
